Trauma is not what happens to you. Trauma is what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you.

Georgia Burke

I am a psychologist who is deeply passionate about creating a safe, grounded space where healing can unfold. I believe that when we feel truly seen and supported, meaningful change becomes possible.

In my work, I support individuals navigating anxiety, mood challenges, relationship difficulties, stress and burnout, perinatal mental health, and the many complexities that life can bring. At the heart of my practice is a deep commitment to trauma healing, whether that trauma stems from a single overwhelming experience or from complex patterns formed over time.

Trauma Informed Therapy

Trauma-Informed Therapy

As Dr. Gabor Maté so beautifully said, “Trauma is not what happens to you. Trauma is what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you.” Trauma lives in the nervous system, in our beliefs about ourselves, and often in the body. If trauma is the wound, healing is possible when the right conditions are created ~ with safety, attunement, and care.

I am trained in evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Additionally, I hold a special interest in Schema Therapy and EMDR as I am drawn to approaches that gently explore the origins of our patterns, the deeper layers beneath symptoms ~ allowing space not only for coping, but for integration and lasting change.

Warm, Person-Centred Care

At Light the Path, I embrace a holistic lens. Healing is not just about the mind; it involves the body, the nervous system, relationships, environment, and for many, a sense of spirit or energetic wellbeing. I honour the interconnectedness of these layers and aim to support you in a way that feels integrative, and aligned with who you are.

Although psychology can sound clinical, my approach is very human. I value authenticity, warmth, and even moments of lightness and laughter in the therapeutic space. I take a person-centred approach, meeting each individual exactly where they are, and working collaboratively to shape therapy around your unique goals and lived experience.

Yes, telehealth sessions are available if that feels more comfortable or convenient for you. Many people actually find they really enjoy the experience of attending sessions from home, where they feel more relaxed, grounded, and at ease in their own space.

We can talk together about whether in-person or online sessions would best suit your needs when you enquire, and you’re always welcome to switch between the two if that feels helpful.

I primarily work within standard business hours, however I’m able to offer some occasional flexibility where needed. If you require a time outside of these hours, you’re welcome to reach out and we can discuss what may be possible.
